Our Enemies are Elsewhere.
On the 29th of April 2026 three men were stabbed in Golders Green. Two of them were Jewish, most people didn't hear about the third.
This is of course, not because the first two were Jewish, but because the third was a Muslim.
On the night of the 4th of May 2026, a former synagogue, which is currently being purchased as a site for a new Islamic community centre, was set alight. Counter Terror police are investigating the incident. The British press ran with "arson on former synagogue".
This omission of course, has nothing to do with that it was a synagogue and everything to do with the fact it would become a mosque.
On the 19th of July 2022 it was published in the Forde Report that Labour had a "hierarchy of racism" that although discrimination against Jewish people (for example) is not uncommon, their proximity to whiteness and "western values" means that claims of anti semitic discrimination are taken more seriously than of other marginalised groups.
The failure to acknowledge this has been the largest catalyst of Anti Semitism and Islamophobia in the 2020's.
When, as in the aforementioned examples, the suffering of muslims is suppressed in comparison to the suffering of Jews, someone who is aware of the Forde Report, and of its application to institutions outside of Labour, may conclude that the press is platforming a "model minority". The preferential coverage is a sign of White Supremacy, in which those more adjacent to Whiteness are more likely to be taken seriously. To someone who is not aware of this, it comes off as Jewish people controlling the media.
This is how otherwise progressive people end up siding with Carlson or unwittingly retweeting Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes. In doing so, they side with actual antisemites, and become the caricature they are often painted as. In fact they also embolden the very people who hate them. The three pundits espouse the Great Replacement theory, with Fuentes explicitly calling for mass deportations.
Antisemitism emboldens Islamophobia
On the flipside, Islamophobia has also been used as a political football to recruit members of the Jewish community. Institutions like the AFD, who are otherwise progressive, did not condemn Elon Musk doing the most obvious Nazi Salute of all time, because he sides with Israel. The Diaspora minister of Israel invited Tommy Robinson over for being a "courageous leader against radical islam". In doing so, he emboldened a man who later blamed the collapse of western society on "woke liberal Jews".
Islamophobia emboldens Antisemitism
Either we acknowledge there's a reason that the bomb thrown into an Islamic centre in Belfast receives no coverage but the ambulances set on fire in London do. Or we let Nazis make a false connection for people instead.
Either we acknowledge that some people on the left are falling for right wing propaganda because of a faux-support for Palestine driven by antisemitism, or we convince more members of the Jewish community that we are not to be trusted.
